Student Groups
The Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary has been hosting student groups for experiential learning opportunities in this forest classroom since the early 1980’s! Founded by Norman (grandpa), a professor at the University of Hawai’i, the Sanctuary’s mission and values are rooted in education and awareness of ethical stewardship and preservation of tropical ecosystems. If you are a teacher, program director, or educational organization, let’s work together to form a unique curriculum and plan for your student group visit!

Most Common Questions
- We offer guided tours only through the sanctuary and therefore do not allow anyone to explore the sanctuary on their own. For safety purposes as well as it creates a much better experience when you learn the story of this privately stewarded land from your tour guide!
- Please wear closed toed shoes you will be comfortable hiking in water, camera to take photos and a rain jacket. Always be prepared for rain, in cloud forest, it can rain any time! And of course remember your adventure hat!
- Customers will receive a full refund, credit, or rebooking with up to 48 hours notice of cancellation. There are no refunds or rebooking within 48 hours of your reservation.
- No refunds will be issued due to weather unless operations are canceled by the operator.

- We ask you to arrive 10 mins before the tour begins. The tour will begin on time, so its important that you arrive early so that you are ready to begin at the start time.
