Get Involved - Help Make a Difference!
The Hawaiian Islands have so much to offer. People are moving to the islands from all over the world to enjoy its beauty and warm climate. This has been a very controversial issue among long-time residents of the islands and newcomers, especially as the people of Hawai'i see their native land, plants and animals threatened. Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary believes diversity can be a good thing if everyone finds something within themselves to give back to the Hawaiian Islands, through appreciation and respect for native Hawai'i residents, their land and culture.
This is one reason Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary encourages people to get involved. Work directly with Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary to develop new educational programs or help enhance our botanical trails. You can also volunteer to assist with these efforts through one of the following non-profit organizations that we work in cooperation with and highly recommend; TREE and Kona Outdoor Circle.
TREE
TREE (Tropical Reforestation & Ecosystems Education) is dedicated to the conservation of and education about native Hawaiian ecosystems.
Based on Hawai'i Island, TREE’s staff and volunteers engage children and adults in learning about the value of our native forests, by participating in hands-on educational activities. Their mission is to forge connections between people and forests with ongoing restoration and learning programs.
Kona Outdoor Circle
Kona Outdoor Circle (KOC) is a community based volunteer organization whose mission is to keep Kona clean, green and beautiful by protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment for future generations.
Among KOC’s wide range of resources they provide a regular series of gardening classes and KOC sponsors a Master Gardener Program jointly with the University of Hawai'i.
